Why is Libya coloured green and orange? It's either a UN member state, or it's not? L.J.Skinnerwot|I did 18:39, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's a UN member state. There are two governments. One under control of Muammar al-Gaddafi in the West and one controlled by the National Transitional Council in the East. The NTC of the East is currently the government that is represented by the Libyan mission to the UN. (See: http://www.libyanmission-un.org/) It is recognized by France, Portugal, and the Arab League. I think it should be added under Green, as both governments are recognized, but neither by all UN members. Infernoapple (talk) 05:24, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Colors[edit]

Colors #FF8484 and #FF8040 are too similar to each other to visually distinguish easily. Please fix. --Bxj (talk) 02:52, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Border on Kosovo[edit]

Kosovo is now recognized by over 50% of countries in the world, so that is a majority, doesn't that mean its borders are shown?—SPESH531Other 01:17, 25 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Should the map exclude Awdalland territories?[edit]

The leaders of Awdalland declared autonomy in 2010, and they do not recognize the secessionist Somaliland government's claim to sovereignty or to its territory. In this case, should the map still include Awdalland territories? --Reepy1 (talk) 16:44, 28 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have thought about this myself, and since Awdalland is de facto controlled by Somaliland, it should not be excluded from the map. So just ignore my statement and don't change it. Thanks! Reepy1 (talk) 09:11, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Crimea[edit]

Republic of Crimea and International recognition of the Republic of Crimea list Russia as recognizing Crimea! 70.194.72.213 (talk) 18:21, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I agree Republic of Crimea could be shown on this map for comparative purposes. Also In Ukraine there's Peoples republic of Donetsk.Im not sure if Russia has given any recognition to Donetsk as well but clearly Crimea has been given recognition by Russia. This would be similar to when Japan gave recognition to Manchuria in the the 1930s. This means that Crimea is a Puppit state of Russia and not actually independent. But regardless i would like to see this map get updated to Reflect the current events of 2014. I enjoy that it has already been updated since 2008 to also show that South Sudan is now a Independent country but now this thing in Ukraine is changing the map also. 99.45.130.77 (talk) 03:07, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ISIL/ISIS[edit]

Should the "Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant" be added to this map? Illegitimate Barrister 06:17, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussion at Talk:List_of_states_with_limited_recognition#Islamic_State_in_Iraq_and_the_Levant. This map should be consistent with the article, so it's best to keep the discussion centralized there. TDL (talk) 15:47, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
