From an 11th- or 12th-century manuscript on parchment in London, British Library, Add MS 5411, folio 1v, the start of the Edictum Rothari.

The text in capitals, with a foliated initial S, reads Si quis contra animam regis cogitaverit aut consiliaberit animae suae... ('that man who conspires or gives counsel against the life of the king, his life...').
