English: চুকনগর গণহত্যা একটি সামরিক গণহত্যা যা পাকিস্তান সেনাবাহিনী ১৯৭১ মুক্তিযুদ্ধ চলাকালে সংঘটিত করে। গণহত্যাটি ১৯৭১ সালের ২০ মে ঘটে। এটি ১৯৭১ সালে বাংলাদেশে ঘটে যাওয়া অন্যতম বৃহৎ গণহত্যা। চুকনগর ভারতীয় সীমান্তের নিকটবর্তী হওয়ায় স্বাধীনতাযুদ্ধ শুরু হবার পর বিভিন্ন স্থান থেকে লোকজন সীমান্ত অতিক্রমের জন্য এখানে এসে জড়ো হয়।বাংলাদেশের খুলনা ও বাগেরহাট থেকে ভদ্রা নদী পাড়ি দিয়ে প্রায় ৩০- ৪০হাজার মানুষ চুকনগরে এসে জড়ো হয় । ২০ মে বেলা ১১টার সময় মিলিটারির দুটি দল একটি ট্রাক ও একটি জিপ গাড়িতে এসে চুকনগর বাজারের উত্তর প্রান্তে "কাউতলা" নামক একটি স্থানে এসে থামে। পাতখোলা বাজার থেকে তারা গুলি চালনা শুরু করে এবং পরবর্তীতে চুকনগর বাজারের দিকে অগ্রসর হয়। বিকেল তিনটা পর্যন্ত গোলাগুলি চলতে থাকে। হত্যাকাণ্ডে নিহতদের স্মৃতির উদ্দেশ্যে চুকনগরে একটি স্মৃতিসৌধ স্থাপন করা হয়েছে যা "চুকনগর শহীদ স্মৃতিস্তম্ভ" নামে পরিচিত। |
